I wanted to write this blog to give an update on how the Cd Release Party went last Saturday for those who were not there, and also for those who were there and partying with us!

Let me start with the beginning of that day.  I set an alarm to get an early start on the day, but just like every alarm that I set, I payed no attention to it and slept right through it, awesome.  So I got a little bit of a late start on the day which only made everything else extremely stressful.  I was constantly moving fast and in a hurry with everything I did from then on. As Rebecca Black would say, “The time is going ticking on and on, everyone is rushing” (great lyric). If you have read some of my previous blogs, you would know that I start with a list every morning to get things done much quicker. I think that day I must have blown through that list twice as fast, and probably took a shower in under a minute.

Around 12pm the fun / squeeze time started. We planed a practice for that whole day before sound check because the Reason Why had yet to practice with its new horn section. Each member started filtering in one by one, doing their usual routine, Travis (guitar) gets on youtube and starts showing Brian (bass) some new insane jazz fusion musician while Jeff goes down stair and picks up Brian’s bass and plays some Reggae jams while Karlee (keys) raids my kitchen and makes herself some crazy blend of herbal tea, all while my head is abut to explode from stress!! Finally we had everyone in the same room together, including the 3 piece horn section, percussion player, and second guitarist/vocalist for the night Alex Brumel. We rehearsed for seriously 5 and a half hours straight, with only a five minute break for some food. From rehearsal we went straight to The Wonder Bar for sound check, which was another half hour of playing.

By the time we were done sound checking, I started to calm down a little bit. There was not much more to stress about, the room sounded great, everyone was excited, and from what I was being told, this show was on its was to being sold out.
They were right, by the time we were about to hit the stage, they were turning people away at the door because the room had exceeded and over filled its capacity. I was so stoked at this time, I knew this was about to be epic.

We hit the stage around 9pm following an amazing set from Lemon Juice, and played for a solid hour and a half for a killer crowd. We did it! We sold out the room, sold a bunch of t-shirts, and every single person in that room had a copy of my new cd “Speak”. I told the fans in the crowd that night, that they were the reason why.
