Hey ya’ll
So its been a while since I have written a blog, and the band and I just got back from a tour down south, so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to share my experience with you.
The tour started by leaving New Jersey at 12 am last Monday night. I know its pretty stupid of us to leave so late but we got all of the night driving out of the way first, which was actually pretty helpful in the end. We just got all jacked up on red bull and coffee, and drove down to the sunny and warm state of Florida.
The next morning we stopped to make some sandwiches, and pulled off a random exit in Georgia. We stopped on the side of a road and found ourselves in a beautiful meadow with no sign of life near by (check out the picture below).
We decided to leave a day early so we could relax the first night with our good friend John Pierson. John is nice enough to always let us stay at his house down in Florida to save us some money on a hotel. Now, what you don’t know about John’s house is that he lives in this amazing and beautiful beach palace right on the water outside of west palm beach. If you look at the house from the water it looks like a giant pirate ship, the design is amazing!
The next morning we relaxed all day, and practiced outside in the beautiful weather preparing for the gig later on that night. That night we played an amazing venue in Jupiter, Florida called Guanabanas. If you ever get a chance to see this place your jaw will drop, it is like a mini concert on paradise, an all outside venue!
The next day we packed up our bags and headed north to New Smyrna Beach, Florida for our show at the Beachside Tavern. This place has a really dope vibe. Everyone is super laid back, nice, and very welcoming. This venue is know for having great artist as well, ever hear of G. Love and Special Sauce? They have played there many times. The show went great, we had a ton of fun and met a lot of cool people. The end of the night did not go so well, we actually ended up sleeping if the van parked outside a tennis court haha! We woke up at 6:30am to the sounds of old people confused with the van and worried that their friends would not be able to park and play tennis at 6:30 am, hahaha! Jeff (drums) got out of the van and explained that we were a band just crashing for the night and would be gone very shortly. Now we were on our way to Savannah, GA!
Our friends from the Domino Effect were nice enough to let us crash at there place for two days while we were in Savannah. The cool thing about this is that there were now two bands living in a house together and tons of equipment to jam with. We seriously jammed for like 12 hours straight until we had to leave for our first gig in the city. We played at the famous venue in Savannah called the Live Wire Music Hall. This was my personal favorite stop on the tour. The hospitality, location, staff, the sound were all great! All the people who came were awesome and we got an amazing recording of the night which will be posted very soon.
The next morning we got up early to go for a skate and then check out the city. If you have never been to Savannah you need to go! It is very clean and beautiful everywhere you walk. Everyone is out and about with big smiles and all have much intension on partying and having a good time. That night we played a killer show with a bunch of great musicians at The Wormhole. Quincy Mumford and the Reason Why, Eatliz (from israel), Consider the Source, and The Domino Effect. Talk about a ridiculous night of music!
The next day we left late to go back home because Travis (guitar) lost the keys to the van because he is very absent minded and when something is not right in front of him he just assumes its lost haha. So after an hour of searching we finally headed back to Jersey with all kinds of funny stories, memories, and sun burn. Thank you to everyone we met along to the way and to everyone that helped us along this tour.
much love,
qmumf
