“Calm Before The Storm”

What’s up, Q-mumf here…

Just wanted to give you all an update on what’s going on in the world of The Reason Why. So as you may know, recently we recorded a live album and DVD. As of yesterday the album was sent to be mastered, and the DVD is being edited. The Live at The Saint DVD includes footage from the concert shot with multiple cameras, interviews with the band, scenic cinematography and a documentary featuring myself and the band’s musical getaway and adventure in the mountain’s of Vermont! Pretty dope, right?

Live at The Saint, will be released on May 25th! To celebrate the release, we will be performing live at Mcloone’s Supper Club in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The physical copy of this live album and DVD will be available for the first time that night! We are calling the show, “Calm Before The Storm”. We will be performing 2 sets; one acoustic set (calm) in which Quincy and the band will tell the inspiration behind some of their songs and memorable stories from the road. The second set (the storm) will be a full on raging electric set, in which everyone will be encouraged to stand up and make their way to the dance floor. You get the best of both worlds, the calm and the storm!

One more thing before I go…We need 2 seconds of your time to help us get to GATHERING OF THE VIBES!!

Thank you!!!

What up, What up! How ya doin out there? Wake up, get some coffee and start your day, it is beautiful outside! Hopefully it will stay like this for many more days! Before I say anything else in this message, I just want to thank everyone who came out to see us at The Saint 2 weeks ago, helped out with the event, donated money, sponsored, listened on the radio, or have supported us as a group over the past few years. This live album is for you!!! Much love!!

Ever since the recording of our live album, I have been crazy busy, so I apologize for the lack of information, corny jokes, and blog postings! After that weekend, we went on tour down south for a few days and then I went to Austin, TX for SXSW. I have barley been home in the past two weeks! The days I have been home, I have been in the studio working with our engineer, mixing the new live album!!!

Let me just say this…yooooooooo!!!! The recordings sound unreal!!!  We are so amped to get this next record into the ears of the people. I can’t tell you enough how stoked we are! Believe it or not, the mixes are almost done!!! I am going into the studio early this week to make sure everything sounds as perfect as a live recording can, and then we send it off to my big brother! From there, Kyle Mumford will edit to the music and put together footage for each song. He will also be adding interviews, tour footage, and our week up in Vermont into this DVD, to make it extra enjoyable for your eyes and ears! Stay tuned, and we might have some sneak peaks coming your way soon.

Wanna see us live again soon? Check us out in Asbury Park for FREEEEE, March 31st inside Convention Hall, right on the boardwalk! Doors are at 7pm, come out to support us in a battle to get on Bamboozle! This is super important for us, so you being there will be a big help, plus you get to see live music for FREEEE!!!

Much love to you all!!

Bruce!

What’s up!

Qmumf here. So this past Saturday I played an event to raise money for Tony Strollo’s family, who passed away unexpectedly a few weeks ago. Tony Strollo was a dear friend to Bruce Springsteen and his personal trainer. It is a terrible thing that Tony passed away but it was nice to see all the people that came out to support his family. After I played a solo set, I went back stage to put my guitar away. I noticed Bruce hanging out. I engaged in some small talk with him. I told him about the recording of our live album coming up this weekend and invited him to come out. He said that he knew about the event and that he was going to try and make it out one of the nights! Bruce along with everyone back stage complemented on my guitar, and he asked to play it! He liked the way it sounded, and asked me if he could use my guitar on stage for his surprise set. I said yes, obviously! After his set he thanked me again and said that he was going to try to make it out to the event!

pretty rad, right?

I wanted to remind you that if you buy your ticket for this weekend before this Thursday, you can get a copy of the live album for FREE sent to you!

Just click HERE for tickets!

After meeting Bruce I decided to cover one of his songs from “Greetings from Asbury Park”.

Check it out HERE!

See you this weekend!

p.s. We are doing a Meet and Greet with food and all kinds of stuff,  at Surf Taco in Belmar right after the daytime show on March 3rd around 6pm. All are welcome!!!

cheers,

Clean Ocean Action

I remember the first time I ever heard about Clean Ocean Action. It was a few years back, and I just started my career as a local musician. Because I was new, I naturally looked up to the other great and well know bands in the Asbury Park area. My father told me that DeSol and P Dub Assassins were playing a benefit concert on the boardwalk in Asbury Park. I loved both of these bands and still do very much. Before I jumped in the car to go see the show, I asked my father what the event was for. He told me it was to raise money for an organization called Clean Ocean Action. I liked the sound of the name, but I wanted to find out more about this organization and see if there was anyway for me to get involved. We went to the show, both bands were amazing, and I picked up a bunch of information to see how I could get involved.

It turned out that my dad had been working with Clean Ocean Action for years, by donating a ton of food for their events (my father is a chef). Because my music is very beach inspired, and I grew up surfing and living only a mile from the beach, I felt like it made sense to be involved musically with COA. As my name grew a little bigger in the area, I contacted COA to play for one of their events. It was at a beach club in Sea Bright, NJ , where they were raising money for COA and raising awareness about the over use of plastics. Walking into the outside tent was mind blowing! They had plastic tops hanging from the tent as decorations, massive beach balls everywhere, and tons of amazing food. I remember eating so much I could not move! My band (Quincy Mumford and the Reason Why) played with another great local band that day, Random Test Reggae Band. We both got a great response, and I could see a promising relationship with COA. Since that day, my family has been a big supporter of COA, and I have turn on a lot of other people to COA because they deserve the support.

When the band and I got the idea a few months ago to record a live album, it made sense to involve some organizations and put some money in their pockets. We came up with the idea to record a live album and DVD over the coarse of two days, we picked March 2nd and March 3rd 2012. We planned for it to be three shows over two days, Friday night, Saturday night, and Saturday during the day for an all ages crowd. There are so many people that have been telling us that they love us even better live then our records. Well, we listened, and now we are putting on these three shows to please our fans! We felt like it would be a great idea to involve some organizations, Clean Ocean Action came to mind first. We game them a call, along with Surfrider Foundation, and told them that we wanted to donate all of our ticket sales for these live shows to them! We got some great sponsors involved to cover the cost of production, so that all of the proceeds made from these shows, will go straight into Surfrider and COA’s pockets!

I have always been a big fan of Clean Ocean Action. Not just because they keep our beaches clean, or keep the plastic bags out of the ocean, or keep our ocean wild life healthy. I am a fan of COA because of their real “go get ‘em” attitude. They are always the first to come up with new ideas, and plans to keep the ocean the way it should be. Like their new plan to create the first ever “Clean Ocean Zone”. When we had a meeting about the show, they told me about the Clean Ocean Zone, and it blew my mind! COA is smart, active, and an effective organization. They are strong, with a great support from the community. I am proud to be connected with them, and I am stoked to have them on board for the recording of our live album. It is going to be a great event full of good vibes, good music, and all for a great cause. Get your ticket today at quincymumford.com!

Cheers!

NEW PLANS NEW MUSIC

Some pretty rad news.

The band and I are heading up to Bethel, Vermont for a few days after the new year. We plan to isolate ourselves for five days in a house and just work on nothing but music. I’m talking BRAND NEW SONGS, new arrangements for old songs, songs we are digging up from the grave, and new surprises put together to create two large sets for your listening pleasure. We thought it was time to create some new music to make our live show as shredtastic as possible. Did I mention that we now have two guitar players, making the Reason Why a total of six members. They both play multiple instruments including banjo, mandolin, dobro, and lap steel just to name a few.

While we are up in Vermont, we will be taking a trip up to Burlington for a show at NECTARS January 11th (Wednesday). If you are in the area or even in Vermont, come check out our set of new tunes and new arrangements. Otherwise you will just have to wait and see for yourself!

That´s it for now, check out some winter dates below!
