As you may or may not know, the band and I just recently got back from a long week in Vermont, where we did nothing but work on music for this live album. We were also filming our experience up there as a band. The DVD will be almost like a small documentary on The Reason Why and putting this show together but with a ton of live footage to really make it great. We are tighter then ever, and these are shows you definitely do not want to miss!
You can be apart of a few shows that will last forever on a CD and a DVD. Not only that, but be apart of a great cause to raise money for some great organizations.

Cheers,

Some pretty rad news.
The band and I are heading up to Bethel, Vermont for a few days after the new year. We plan to isolate ourselves for five days in a house and just work on nothing but music. I’m talking BRAND NEW SONGS, new arrangements for old songs, songs we are digging up from the grave, and new surprises put together to create two large sets for your listening pleasure. We thought it was time to create some new music to make our live show as shredtastic as possible. Did I mention that we now have two guitar players, making the Reason Why a total of six members. They both play multiple instruments including banjo, mandolin, dobro, and lap steel just to name a few.
While we are up in Vermont, we will be taking a trip up to Burlington for a show at NECTARS January 11th (Wednesday). If you are in the area or even in Vermont, come check out our set of new tunes and new arrangements. Otherwise you will just have to wait and see for yourself!
That´s it for now, check out some winter dates below!

Hello to the people. How are you all doing today? I hope you guys are enjoying the holidays and are in the festive mood! December is my favorite time of year, not just because there is Christmas and New Years, but also my birthday :) … and more importantly being around my family. Everyone just seems to be in a better mood this time of year. My family are not the type of people to make some kind of crazy light display on our house, in fact we don’t put up any lights! But…we are pretty dam proud of our Christmas tree, this year it’s looking dope.
So this year, I actually will not be spending the holidays at home. By home, I mean in the States! This year I will be spending my Christmas and New Years in Sweden! I am so stoked! Of coarse I will miss my family, but it should be nice to have a white Christmas for once! I can’t wait, I know it is going to be one hell of a time. It will be nice to see some family and friends. Hopefully I will be back on the radio in Kalmar and do another live broadcast. Maybe even play an American Christmas song!
Looking back on this year, I start to remember a lot of good times, laughs, and adventures. I am glad to hold some of these fun, exciting, and just plain crazy memories. I am so grateful to have such loving and supporting people around me. I don’t think that I thank these people enough, and I really want to show them that I appreciate everything they do. So…as part of my New Years Resolution, I am going to recongnize and thank everyone more often for completing these acts of kindness. Now I just need to figure out the rest of my resolution! What is your New Years Resolution? Tell me on TWITTER!
So I need some help from you all. It has become that time of year again where 90.5 The Night (WBJB) counts down the top 100 albums of the year! I am apart of that list with my latest album Speak. YOU can help bring it to number 1!!! All you have to do is just click HERE , scroll down 1/3 of the way, and just click 4 stars under Speak by QUINCY MUMFORD & THE REASON WHY. Thank you so much for the support and your listening ears!
Happy Holidays to you all :)

Hello to the people…
A few blogs back I mentioned that I was starting a radio campaign for my single, “Sunshine”. Well…SO FAR, SO GOOD! A bunch of stations have really been into the single and digging the rest of my latest CD, ‘Speak’…Woodstock, NY, Baltimore, MD, Charlotte, NC, Salt Lake City, UT, Cleveland, OH. I am excited that these stations have been so receptive to my music. I get reports every week from the campaign, and they all leave super cool comments.
The good thing about radio is that you are able to reach audiences from all over the country with just the push of a button. I am not sure who is listening to me in Anchorage, Alaska but its pretty rad non-the-less that they have me there. All of these spins on the different radio stations have put me right on the AAA radio top 200 song Chart! Sunshine ranks in at #159 as of last week :) Pretty rad right? I’m stoked to even be on the chart at all!!! I am hoping that number keeps getting smaller! That means, the people have to like it, call into the station, so the DJ’s play more and more. That will move me down the chart for sure! You can help!!! Just call or email any of the stations listed below and ask them to play you some SUNSHINE!! Thank you all for listening and supported original music!
Remember to check out quincymumford.com for some of our upcoming tour dates to finish out the month of December!
Much love,
qmumf

What’s up What’s up,
Mr. Mumford here. It has been a little while since a message has gone out to you guys with some updates. As the days get colder, my creative flow starts to come back into play. I was kinda bummed that I barely wrote any songs all summer long. Shouldn’t summer be the best time to write? To make up for the lack of writing, I wrote a ton of new songs these past few months! I have a good feeling about each one. Some are nice melodic folk songs, some are funky hip-hopish songs, some reggae tunes, and some uptempo pop songs. The most important thing about this message is….we will be playing them live very soon! The band and I have been working very hard and we are excited to show the world the new music!
So check it out. Here are some shows to see in the month of December.
Dec 3rd The Tin Angel Philly, PA 10pm **This Saturday**
Dec 8th Jammin Java Vienna, VA 8pm (solo, near DC!)

So, I have been listening to a really cool artist lately. Some of you will know him and some will not. He goes by the name of Brett Dennen! He has been around for a while now, but it was not until recently that I stated listening to him. He is a killer song writer! Check out the video below of a song called “Ain’t No Reason”. I have been putting this song on repeat for a week now. Awesome feel, lyrics, music, and imagery. Let me know what you think of Brett!
Enjoy!

Some of you may know, and some of you may not know at all, but I started a clothing company last year called Lifted Apparel. The idea came into my mind a long time ago. I’m not talking about the name, but the idea to create some cool and comfortable clothing for people to wear. I have actually always wanted to do this for as long as I can remember. I had a dream to start with soft goods and move on to outerwear and eventually snowboards. Crazy I know, but you have to set your goals high!
So now I am about 2/10th’s of the way there. I started to print some t-shirts to get the process going. I came up with the name “Lifted Apparel” after naming my business LLC, Lifted Enterprises. The name “Lifted” came from a song of mine, off of my second album, South Edgemere. I wanted to show people another artistic side of me. Although I don’t design all of the shirts with my artwork, I do hand pick the artist to draw the images, and I come up with all of the concepts behind the images and the colors. I will say that some of the t-shirts and hoodies coming out in the future will feature some of my art. You may have seen some of my artwork before, just check out any of my album covers!
I am very much into graffiti and psychedelic styles. One of my favorite
artist’s is a good friend of mine, Jay Alders (jayalders.com). Check him out, he is a huge inspiration and someone I look up to as an overall human being! You’re the man, Jay! The company is very small right now, but it is just the beginning. I asked my brother, Kyle Mumford to join me as a partner in the company. He has a very creative mind and the ability to create some pretty dope designs. He even does his own silk screen printing! We plan to release a lot more products this up coming year. I’m talking, more sunglasses, creative and colorful tee’s, hoodies, beanies, and more! If you are into companies such as, Volcom, Billabong, Burton, and Ruca, you will definitely dig Lifted. For now, check out some of my latest Lifted products below, and stay tuned for more!

So… I have been doing this really awesome workshop in New York City run by the company BMI. I think I have mentioned this workshop in one of my past blogs, but I wanted to talk a little about what I am getting out of the class.
What is cool about this workshop, is that everyone attending it comes from all different musical backgrounds. Some are artist that play out on a regular basis, some are budding producers, and some are just songwriters that write for other artists. It is great that we can all come together and share our ideas and learn from the masters of the songwriting craft. Each week we have a new assignment to writing about a specific subject using different techniques. This has been a good experience, because I have had the chance to write some really dope songs that I am stoked on!
The first week we had an assignment to write a song about some one you used to see all the time and now you don’t. I decided to take a different approach on this and create a “coming of age” story. I wrote a song about old friends that used to be in my life a lot more then they are now. I wrote about old times that we had together and about how back then we had no worries. We were reckless and we felt like the world was in the palm of our hands. The song is called, “Free From it All”. The style is way different then what I am used to writing. It is an up-tempo finger picking style song, ironiqually kind of like Mumford and Sons. I am really proud of what I came up with and I can’t wait to show you all. Look out for a video of me playing it soon on my channel! (youtube/quincymumford)
That was not the only song I have come up with. I have about 4 other songs being prepared to start being played live. One is called, “Her Body”, it has a sort of a Latino influence. I fell that it is very upbeat, super rhythmic, and a lot of fun to play. Two are reggae songs but both are very different sounds. One is in a minor key that talks about being a broke artist, and the other is a very positive song that talks about the people in my life that have influenced me and brought good into my life and the world. The last one is a song that I have been working on for a very long time. This has a very hip-hop and soul feel. The verses are very rhythmic and “rappy”, while the chorus opens up with a big and soulful vocal melody.
Come see the band and I live soon and you will hear some of these songs! Check us out November 12th, this Saturday at The Saint in Asbury Park, NJ. It’s always a good time with the Reason Why!
Cheers!

What’s up all…
I just wanted to throw the love out to WBJB 90.5 The Night. This radio station is awesome! I have known the DJ’s at this station for a long time, and they have always had my back. I remember when I first started playing out at open mic’s, before I made my first album, one of the DJ’s from 90.5 was working at the bar where I was playing. Just before I released my first album, I made sure he got a copy. Ever since, they have been playing and supporting my music on the radio station. Much appreciated, thanks guys!
So… some other pretty awesome news. I just started a radio campaign, across the US, not too long ago, and it seems like we are doing pretty well. A bunch of the stations have been really responsive and started to spin my new single “Sunshine”! Check out the list of radio stations below. If you are in any of these areas, or kind of close, give them a call. Tell them to keep jammin my tunes. You can help spread the word, and keep me going national! Remember that YOU are The Reason Why.
Be sure to sign up for my mailing list on quincymumford.com. All we need is an email and a zip code and you get news updates, tour dates, and incentives, like free gear and free tracks that no one else has! Pretty rad right? Check it out!
